Divide Integers With Exact Quotients

Written by Adi Ackerman, Head Teacher

"Divide Integers With Exact Quotients" is written for 6th Grade (Ages 11-12). If your student is a year younger but already steady on integers, the page still works. You may just need to read the instructions out loud. And if they are older and division of integers never quite stuck, this is a short review rather than busywork.

Divide Integers With Exact Quotients

6th grade math worksheet: divide 24 pairs of integers with exact quotients, such as (−88) ÷ 11 and (−120) ÷ (−10). Answer key included. Part of our division of integers collection.

How do I use this worksheet?

Use Divide Integers With Exact Quotients first to practice the sign rule. Then use the missing dividend or divisor page to connect division back to multiplication.

What students will practice

  • Students will divide 24 pairs of integers that have whole number quotients.
  • Students will divide dividends up to 132 in size, such as (−108) ÷ 12 and 132 ÷ 11.
  • Students will decide the sign of each quotient, as in (−35) ÷ (−5) = 7 and 96 ÷ (−8) = −12.

FAQ

How do I use this division of integers worksheet?

⌄

Use Divide Integers With Exact Quotients first to practice the sign rule. Then use the missing dividend or divisor page to connect division back to multiplication.

What does this worksheet teach?

⌄

Divide 24 pairs of integers with exact quotients, such as (−88) ÷ 11 and (−120) ÷ (−10). The directions on the page read: Find each quotient. An answer key is included.

Can I use this division of integers worksheet for homeschool or classroom?

⌄

Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade integers, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with division of integers. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.

What is the sign rule for dividing integers?

⌄

Same signs give a positive quotient and different signs give a negative one. So (−54) ÷ (−6) = 9 and 72 ÷ (−9) = −8.

How do you find a missing dividend?

⌄

Multiply the divisor by the quotient. If a number divided by (−8) equals 3, the dividend is (−8) × 3 = −24.

Is there an answer key?

⌄

Yes. Both division of integers sheets have an answer key.
