Can I use this convert metric units worksheet for homeschool or classroom?
⌄
Yes, both. We made it for 6th Grade measurement, and the page works the same whether it lands on a kitchen table or a center rotation. At home, most families go through it together and talk the answers out loud, and that talking is where most of the learning happens with convert metric units. In class it runs well as independent work while you pull a small group. Print one copy or thirty, whichever the day needs.
How do you convert metric units?
⌄
Multiply to go to a smaller unit and divide to go to a larger one, using 10, 100 or 1,000. 8 m = 8,000 mm, and 1,500 cm = 15 m.
How do you convert grams to kilograms?
⌄
Divide by 1,000, which moves the decimal point 3 places to the left. 7,400 g = 7.4 kg and 338 g = 0.338 kg.
How do you convert mixed amounts like 7 kg 350 g?
⌄
Change the larger unit and add the smaller one. 7 kg 350 g = 7,000 + 350 = 7,350 g, and 4 L 550 mL = 4,550 mL.
