6th grade is where elementary school work turns into middle school work. In math, ratios, rates and percents arrive, fractions get divided by fractions, negative numbers show up on the number line and the coordinate plane, and letters start standing for numbers. In reading and writing, every answer needs text evidence, arguments replace opinion pieces, and pronouns and sentence variety take center stage.

Math has 312 worksheets in 19 topics. Number sense: place value into the billions, scientific notation, long division, GCF and LCM and exponents. Fractions and decimals: all four operations, conversions and fraction and decimal word problems. Ratios and rates: ratio tables, unit rates, tape diagrams, double number lines and proportions. Percents, including 10 percent word problems sheets. Integers, algebra (expressions, one-step and two-step equations, inequalities), geometry (area, volume, surface area with nets and the coordinate plane) and statistics (mean absolute deviation, dot plots, histograms and box plots).

Reading has 175 worksheets in 13 topics: 35 fiction and 28 nonfiction passages, 11 paired texts sheets, myths and folktales, poetry, story elements, main idea, inference, text structure, claims and evidence, spelling, shades of meaning, multiple meaning words and dictionary skills. Grammar and writing has 111 worksheets in 14 topics: pronouns, sentences, punctuation, verbs, conjunctions, homophones, idioms, similes and metaphors, prefixes and suffixes, argument, informative and narrative writing, the writing process and transitions. Vocabulary has 49 worksheets in 6 topics: Greek and Latin roots, context clues, analogies, academic vocabulary, figurative language and literary devices, and homophones and homographs.

Every sheet has an answer key. 331 of the 335 reading, grammar and vocabulary sheets carry a grade 6 Common Core code (RL.6, RI.6, L.6 or W.6); 4 literary devices sheets on irony and archetypes carry none. In math, 239 of the 312 sheets carry the code they practice. 73 carry no code: some practice skills Common Core places above 6th grade, like integer operations, scientific notation, circles, two-step equations and percent change, and others are reviews.
