Preschool Lesson Plans

20 ready-to-teach plans for preschool, each with a timed sequence and the printable pages that go with it. Free to read and print.

Preschool is about exposure, not mastery. Sessions are short, adult-led and hands-on, and success looks like joining in rather than finishing a page. Everything here suits ages 3 to 5.

These plans use worksheets from our Preschool & Kindergarten collection, filtered to the topics that suit ages 3 to 5: letters, counting, shapes, colors, patterns and early writing. If your child is already adding and subtracting, the kindergarten lesson plans go further.

Preschool math is counting things you can hold. Children match a number word to a quantity, notice shapes in the room, and sort by colour and size. Nothing is written independently yet.

Preschool reading is oral. Children hear rhyme, notice that print carries meaning, recognise their own name, and learn letter shapes as pictures long before they sound them out.

Preschool writing is fine-motor work: holding a pencil, tracing shapes and letters, and learning that marks on a page mean something.

Science at this level is observation before explanation. Each plan opens with something to notice and only names the vocabulary once students have seen the thing it describes.
